"Mini-Memoria" Plotting Post (it's a memshare player plot!)

 time to d-- memshare, everyone

UPDATE 2/3: here's a header for finding friends to experience memories with.

THE CONCEPT:

February 11th, Kuja's gonna finally attain his big furry supermode, and try to meld time & space to reach the origin of all life. Won't work. But what it WILL do is make weird, rippling auroras all over the place that will toss you into someone else's memory when you touch it! They'll appear anywhere in town, indoors and out, and can pop up very suddenly. Inside these wavering lights are vague visions of other places and times... if you get too close, you'll find yourself within that vision yourself.

They can be reasonably avoided; it's not covering the whole of town completely. These auroras vary in size, ranging from 'something you could find when you open a cabinet' to 'this is making crossing the street inconvenient.' After someone enters an aurora and experiences it, it disappears, and might reappear somewhere else.

Practically, what this is gonna look like is "Kuja turns red and more furry, makes a weird ominous magical orb in the middle of town, and is either stopped or tuckers himself out after half an hour."

The effects are going to start sometime in the evening, and end at midnight, because that's kind of the vibe in Austice, y'know? There's no obvious tell when the event starts, except... a slowly growing feeling that something is terribly wrong? Then the weird warps in reality start popping up like daisies, naturally.

The effects will last until the stroke of midnight, even with the dispersal of Kuja's.. funny pink orb. Getting rid of the orb will make it way less bad, making the auroras all much smaller and thus harder to notice.  Also, that feeling of doom will be gone, which is nice.

Characters who touch an aurora will be sucked into someone else's memory along with anyone close by, vanishing from the town until their experience of it concludes. But the memory doesn't have to come from one of the characters dragged in-- instead, we'll be cherry picking memories to experience from a communal bank everybody can choose to contribute to~!

You can also choose to put up closed memories for specific characters to see, since some things you might wanna have shared from your guy's backstory.. wouldn't work out so well getting released to the general public.

Beyond just canon memories, you can share experiences from ingame, too, but give a heads up to your thread partner if you ARE sharing an Austice scene!!

The way the memories play out ICly is really up to what you personally want to do with what people put out there.. one-and-done flashback? yeah! A movie you can move around in? I've always wanted to do that. Interactive area that gives out info as you press on it? Cool as hell!

SO UH.. DEALING WITH KUJA (you can skip to the tl;dr: if you're just here for memshare):

No one technically has to, since he's going to totally burn himself out after about half an hour on his own and give up forever on... whatever the hell he was trying to do, but if you want you can come give it a shot! He's set up shop at the memorial for the lost constructed months back by Rinne and Kotetsu, and the auroras are especially dense around him - after a certain point, you can't approach without going through one. I ask that 4 characters max enter the, uh, boss aurora together, because there's a lil puzzle room inside. After they escape, the boss aurora will vanish, and anybody can get through.

Boss fight team's assembled! It's Kokichi, Wave, Vivi, and Andy.

Kuja will be very manic and threaten people that try to stop him with scary pyrotechnics, but if spoken to he will talk plenty. When has Kuja not ran his mouth at every opportunity? He's not going to stop now of all times. Maybe you can talk him down...?

I have a solid idea for what's set off his supermode, ftr - he hasn't checked on his gem since before his first death(s), and it's in pret-ty rough shape after all that. I was thinking I could have checking the gem come up in a thread with someone, so if you're interested in that, let me know! Kuja will IMMEDIATELY be fleeing the scene after he transforms, zipping off to the memorial to start the show. Kinda seems like he planned this.

TL;DR:
  • Touch an aurora, experience a random person's memory alongside anyone nearby.
  • Canon or game memories are fair game, but please ask your thread partners if you use game memories!
  • Characters vanish from sight until the memory is over.
  • The auroras start appearing the evening of February 11th, and all vanish at midnight.
  • Please use the form below to submit memories to the collective memory bank if you're interested!
  • Try to find the center of all this madness and Kuja's there, feeding power into a glowy pink orb. After the first half hour he will either be there but too tired to keep feeding it magic, or somebody's stopped him, one way or another.
  • Even if you don't really have time to jump in on the event yourself, sharing memories for the bank is welcome!
  • GO FORTH AND PLOT

So, friends, let's make that memory bank!! Here's a form, and there's a header below to comment to with it. You're free to add as many as you want if you come up with more later. I'm erring on the side of 5-6 max per guy, myself.

Let's all have fun & advance or make CR in fresh exciting ways~!

Please use this post to toss ideas at each other about memories you want to share. You can find someone to experience some memories alongside, since... that gives you someone to roleplay with, unless what you want to thread out is the aftermath of experiencing it. That would be cool too!!! Go top level with your wildest dreams when the IC post goes up!!

Open for anyone to run into and experience (whether solo or with others), does not have to be with Wave!

Summary: En route to a city with Scar (nobody knows who he is, it's fine), who notes that the town is unusually quiet. On arriving, the town seems empty at first, until you go into a building, at which point you're attacked by a Null, the husk of what remains after your soul/essence has been forcibly ripped from your body. :) Turns out there were still people in the city hiding after the first attacks died down, but they begin attacking again en masse and feeding on the magic from the Veloi tree outside the city, ultimately leading to the world's destruction. Fight them or don't! Just avoid getting hit by their claws--either they're so cold they burn (and hurt), or they'll latch into your metaphysical being and start pulling you out of alignment with your physical body. Not fun!!

[personal profile] wolfish 2023-02-02 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Yuri Leclerc

Memory Prompts:

1. Home Sweet Home
Follow a ten-year-old boy back to his house. His clothes are torn, his gait is off...the kid looks like he took a beating, and he may well have! He approaches a small house, and rather than entering the front door, he circles around back and climbs awakwardly through an open window. There, he peels off his ruined shirt, revealing a litany of scars and bruises, along with a few fresh bandages.

The boy makes surprisingly efficient work of cleaning himself up, replacing his shirt... And pausing to dig some coins out of his pocket, he deposits these in a drawer where other money has already been stowed. He looks damn tired... Until his mother calls a name that no one in the town has heard before, one you don't quite catch. His expression brightens instantly, and he leaves to greet his mother.

2. A Mad Ploy 🔒 (Byleth)
A young man travels through a series of underground tunnels lit by torches. The way is labyrinthine, and it seems to be terribly easy for one to get lost, yet the young man travels with purpose until he comes to a chamber.

There, a man dressed recognizably as clergy is bent over the surprisingly fresh — or perhaps well-preserved — body of a woman with pale skin and green hair. He's rambling at the hurried pace of one obsessed:

"Soon, very soon now, Sitri, everything is almost ready for the ritual. I'll bring you back, you'll see—"

The young man witnessing this does not announce himself, the disgust plain on his painted features.

3. Belief
In this memory, Yuri is himself as others recognize him. His surroundings are a simple makeshift church in what, if one roams about, is a military camp bedecked in blue standards. It's late at night, and Yuri is quite alone, hands clasped together and head bowed in prayer.

What's he praying for? A man with spiky, bright violet hair approaches him, asking just that. Yuri tells him, matter-of-factly, that he always prays for their safety and success before battle.

Miscellany
There's the possibility of playing with other memories if discussed, depending on what you're interested in.

Yuri's presence or level of involvement on these can be flexible. He'll be more tight-lipped about his childhood than anything else. He did a lot of things because needs must.

If you'd likd to plot, hit me up!

Thanks so much Zazo for setting this up! Regarding memories, do the portals show altered/erased memories by the town or true memories? (Like say your character forgot someone's name, would their memory have that person's name or would there be weird static over it?)

...Qiqi will be blissfully blasé about the situation, wandering the Nest as per her usual.

I can't think of a lot of closed memories I could share for her off the top of my head, she's not got a TERRIBLY large amount of canon, but I'll be putting some in the bank for her. But that doesn't mean I'm not open to ideas.

If you need a °-° companion to keep (heh) cool during wtf this is, Qiqi is your gal.

[personal profile] hanikamu 2023-02-01 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Rinne Amagi
Memory Prompts: Rinne had a very different personality when he was younger, so I'd like to give some characters a chance to see it. He was a smart, kind and noble kid. Maybe too smart...

  • Amagi village memories! Some images for vibes. I'm thinking of setting it up in a way that lets characters explore the village. I'm thinking of three memories:

    - Rinne and Hiiro playing in the forest and Rinne carrying Hiiro back home.

    - A young Rinne secretly escaping from the village and to the city and discovering a lot of things for the first time. Idols! Soda! Pizza!?

    - (cw: child abuse) Rinne being dragged back to the village, beaten up, and kept in a room for days as punishment.

  • Homeless/early career Rinne memories. Niki is notably absent in them when he actually finds a place to stay. It honestly makes no sense. That's because he forgot about Niki. His personality would still be nice and not annoying here. He was fairly successful as an idol until things happened.

  • Main story memories, like the parts where he hijacks concerts and makes anti-capitalist speeches and he's awful to Hiiro and disowns him. Rinne forgot his dream of becoming an idol, though, so some parts might be different.

  • Does anybody want to know how Rinne died the first and second time in Austice...

That's all I have! Let me know if you want to plot or work with something in particular. Rinne will be curious about the auroras and want to dispel them before anyone sees him being cute, but I'm busy with personal matters at the moment, so I won't be involving him in that. alternatively i could make up some stuff in her childhood since we know that she went through hellish training by her family. wanna know why she can endure the cold as a kid? or general rough education by her own tutors? let me know via [plurk.com profile] flowerworks or kagamihara#8796 and ill pen you in!

Byleth Eisner | Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

[personal profile] fishfearme 2023-02-01 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Byleth
Memory Prompts:

⁂ For Three Hopes Byleth, there's only two canon scenes I can link for a memory prompt, one of which is when he was possessed by Sothis. Since he's forgotten how to use Divine Pulse, however, Sothis ZAWARDOing Shez appears as teleportation - much like in the cutscene.

⁂ Second one is when Arval hijacked Shez's body and tried to murder Byleth (there's so much possession in this game). Basically Byleth fighting for his GODDAMN LIFE while actually trying not to hurt Shez, since he's clearly under someone else's control.

⁂ For general memories: one of the many battlefields Byleth has fought on, where his overwhelming power has his enemies calling him 'demon' or 'monster'. Byleth himself shows no emotion when cutting his enemies down, and seems very much like he's just walking to the market to get eggs or milk or something. Notably, however, he doesn't attack enemies who have either surrendered or flee from him. He only eliminates threats, after all.

If people want to have specific memories (like, childhood ones or something), I can hash stuff out. But those two above are what anyone can nab, if they have a character who wants to empathise with possession or dehumanisation or whatnot. There would've been the memory where Jeralt told him about the whole Crest Stone functioning as his heart deal but.... Byleth's forgotten that, lol.

Name: Barnaby Brooks Jr.

Memory Prompts: Barnaby has a much darker past than he likes to let on under his superhero facade, and there are certain things about his current circumstances back home he just won't talk about, so this could be a good way to get to know him better. Some ideas:

- Right before he arrived in Austice, Barnaby sacrificed himself in a museum bombing in order to protect one of the museum staff. He took a direct blast from a bomb, and as Kotetsu informed him, he has been in a coma since. So even if he escapes Helltown for good, there's no guarantee he'll survive when he gets home. He hasn't told any of his CR about this and has no plans to, so memshare is perfect for it.

- His Batman origin story. His parents were murdered when he was a child, and he spent the next twenty years of his life obsessed with vengeance. He's mellowed out since and realises there are better things to live for than revenge, but seeing a memory like this would help others understand why he became a hero to begin with, and why he's caring towards young orphans like Anya.

- That one time Barnaby went brainwashed and feral and tried to kill Kotetsu. he... he got better??? But they've had a complicated history compared to the partnership they have today.

I'm also down for other ideas you might find interesting, even if it's just day to day stuff like what superhero work looks like for Kotetsu and Barnaby, since a lot of non-modern characters don't have a frame of reference for it. just lmk!

Marcus Grimm | Tales of the Rays

[personal profile] tigrisfang 2023-02-01 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Name: Marcus Grimm

Memory Prompts: Here's the grab bag of "do you want to learn terrible things about the Rays world? about Phil? get to know Marcus a little better?" I'm open to a lot of different things, but some of the low hanging fruit here while I decide what I'll write up:

  • Clone shenanigans: Rays world has a lot of clone situations going on. Just... so many clones and identity issues.

    - Meet Marcus' least favorite Phil as they cordially try to kill each other! Featuring the most innocuous reason Marcus was finishing his drink for the "underhanded methods" NHIE.

    - See Marcus bickering with his alternate self, also featuring an adorable mini-Phillip. I can either unseal the nebulously canon interdimensional amusement park lore for this (no I will not explain unless my sinful hand is forced) or I can write up possible headcanon scenes.

  • World shenanigans: The "what's wrong with Tir Na Nog" assortment goes here. War memories, void memories, 'why are your monsters fused with particles of people's souls' memories.

  • Clown bin: More lighthearted memories to destroy Marcus' dignity. Marvel at his poise as a leader of a cool militia (real) (not clickbait). Also, while Rays has never given him an official little fairy form I'd be delighted to do something with this.

Name: Diluc Ragnvindr
Memory Prompts: Diluc has lived a very colorful life despite being only 22-23 years old. That said, here is a sampling that may be subject to change:
🔺 Strolling through the long, winding rows of the vineyard outside the winery's mansion as a child of ten. It's a snatched little piece of a thing, but it's accompanied by occasional bursts of running, hiding — pausing in the shade to give perfect, ripened grapes over to a young boy who looks suspiciously like a certain (albeit much younger) Calvary Captain. Each time you sit and chat, you can feel your face break into a smile that rivals the sun.

🔺 Dancing to a jaunty, upbeat tune in what appears to be military barracks. You're tipsy and flushed in the face, but your dance partner with the high turtleneck (and blue hair?) leads you through the movements without breaking a sweat. You're getting the steps down for your father's upcoming gala and you can't quite make eye contact. Your heart pounds in your chest as you're playfully spun and dipped.

🔺 You're lying on your back in the raw of a sprawling taiga. The stars above are innumerable, immovable pinpricks of light in the suffocating darkness. Everything throbs like a singular bruise and you're so warm despite the billowing shape of your breath in front of your face. Against your back, the ground is sticky with a mixture of blood and melted hoar. Your vision spots, but you press your hand over your heart. You can feel the letters that you've been sent within the lining of your coat. It gives you a moment to think about what you might have done better. Where you might have gone wrong.

You don't cry at all.

🔺 You're barely ten when the wind and rain blows in another person in the middle of the night. He's small, smaller than you are. He looks cold and wet and frightened. He doesn't cling to your father's pant leg, but he stays just out of full view of you. Your heart stutters with a vicious and irrepressible warmth.

Name: Ala
Memory Prompts: Ala's memories are just her playing around... but anyways,

- It's a rainy autumn day, and you find yourself jumping and splashing in muddy puddles in the middle of a small town very much like the Nest. You have a one-sided mudball fight with people walking down the street just minding their own business when a glob of mud hits the back of their head or you skip up to somebody and smear mud directly across their face. A small black cat with golden eyes watches you from afar as you laugh at people's reactions. Nobody seems to be able to see you, but it's okay, because you're having fun playing by yourself.

- You're crouched outside an old house surrounded by a bunch of kittens who keep trying to shove their faces into the bag of pretzels in your hands, when you hear a loud crack from above- another crack, a thump. Deciding to investigate, you enter the house and make your way up to the second story, where you find a boy lying flat on his back with broken tiles and other debris on top of him from the hole in the roof above. One of his arms is broken, splintered bone broken though the skin, and several nails are stuck in his stomach where he's bleeding out next to a dropped nail gun.

- It's dark and warm, smelling of hot chocolate and cinnamon buns from where you're curled up underneath a kotatsu with a friend. Under the thick blanket, it gets harder and harder to breathe, your lungs start to burn, but your body feels like concrete and you cannot move. You stay like this for a very long time; the memory seems to stretch on forever.

- You stand in the middle of a living room, lights off but there is a faint glow behind drawn curtains: flickering flame and shadows of people, the murmuring of a gathering crowd that pitches into a shout as a crash can be heard from a broken window in the kitchen under which a lit torch rolls across the floor, fire eating curling wallpaper. You run to the front door to escape, but are met by an angry mob that blocks the way. One of them swings a torch at your face, hair catching fire and skin blistering. Outside, the crowd's words take form: they shout accusations about being a murderer, a monster who kills with no remorse, how they should have given you the death penalty instead of jail because if you got out you would have just started killing again. A shovel swings towards your face, your hands coming up just in time to block the blow, but it pulls back and comes a second time and this time the force of the blow brings you down and the world goes dark.

- A mob around a bonfire, the slow beat of enka in the background thrumming like heartbeat. You're being crowded, shoved to the side as if nobody can see you, so close that when you back up it puts you right up against the fire, no longer warm and welcoming but angry and searing. So you make yourself small, roosting on top of the head of a boy who can see you, who lifts you up high in the air and spins the both of you around as if dancing. The people around the two of you notice and copy the new dance move, everybody's hands in the air cupped around an invisible nothing, and you can't help but laugh as the boy leads a conga line around the bonfire, laughter blending into laughter as the people dance wildly and scream death metal and have the time of their lives.

- A starry sky spreads out all around you as you soar through the air, doing loop-de-loops and divebombs and long glides as far as the wind will carry you over treetops and rooftops and a large lake. Amongst the stars, the moon glows almost full but not yet, and when you land on soft grass, the stars come with you, golden fireflies following in your wake.

tsurumaru ❀ touken ranbu ❀ eski

[personal profile] cranekin 2023-02-02 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
Name: Eski

Memory Prompts:

I'm thinking of running this kind of in a choose-your-own-adventure format because I think that's more fun than dumping a lot of tl;dr you can't really respond much to. It's going to be a little limiting in places because these are events that have already happened but I'm going to try my best to give some creative leeway here.

Tsuru is actually a sad white-haired anime boy and now is the time to find out.

MEMORIES OF SHIMABARA
cw: death, religion

I'm thinking of running this memshare kind of CYOA style where you'll get to accompany a version of Tsuru through the event. The TL;DR here is Tsurumaru was the leader for a mission that involved going back in time to make sure the Shimabara Rebellion happened the way it was. Tsuru impersonated the leader of the Christian army, gathered up thousands of supporters with his squad, and led them all to their deaths at the hands of the ruling government. He played villain to teach his more naive allies the importance of their mission and suffering. He also took on the role to spare his allies from carrying the burden of what he did.

For the CYOA, your character will take on the role of someone in Tsuru's squad and you'll follow him through certain points.

  • Intentionally leading the army into a hopeless battle. It's going to be very obvious that they'll suffer heavy casualties and Tsuru's goal is to make sure they lose lives
  • The final moments when Tsuru releases a prisoner so they can be betrayed for Historical Accuracy™.
  • The aftermath when Tsuru is alone with Ookurikara (played by your character now!) and Tsuru screams at the moon and sea for a bit
I'm going to take a little bit of creative liberty to make the scenarios flow naturally and are fun for both sides but come learn that Tsuru is,
✧ A time traveler
✧ A sword spirit
✧ Is the type of person who will become a hated villain for the sake of success
✧ And he kind of hates himself because of how misunderstood he makes himself
✧ Also probably get some Ookurikara lore indirectly because Kara was his emotional support dragon here
✧ Maybe find out the other way Tsuru's memory is hecked up in this place because he remembers the ending differently from how it really went down and doesn't know it's wrong. We'll have to see if this comes up naturally because it might be a little clunky/awkward but we can see!!!

CANON UPDATE HINTS?
A softer alternative! Also going to run this one kind of CYOA style but instead of you taking on the role of someone in his squad, you'll take on the role of his master. Tsuru will be a lot more open and forthcoming because he'll naturally feel comfortable in the memory. I'm going to have him hint a little bit at some other characters going on "personal assignments" and he'll muse about what they're doing and kind of hint that he miiiiiiight also want to go on one, too.
✧ This is a made-up memory I'm rolling with where you can more or less ask Tsuru anything you want and he'll reveal a lot more about himself willingly because he's basically in his safe place

ORIGIN STORY-ish
cw: death, dead bodies, implied child death
I say implied because Tsuru actually forgot... that his first master was a child that was murdered in a political struggle. 😊

This is going to be a MUCH shorter memshare but basically you'll get to visit Tsuru's first resting place which is... a grave. It'll be a dark, nondescript void and you'll just sort of get to chat with him a little bit. I'm going to approach this as him thinking he's talking to another spirit? his master? (you) in the afterlife because spirit things OK. He'll be kind of sad but largely at peace until he's stolen from the grave. Catch him absolutely losing it when his peace is shattered and the memory will probably end there.
✧ This is... more or less his very first memory in Austice and it's an extremely formative moment for him because basically from this point he was like, "and no one will ever know peace as long as I'm awake now"
✧ This is going to be a pretty short memshare but because he's Tsuru, he'll be happy to talk about everything flippantly later so you can get a little more lore both canon and Austice related (because he regained a false memory about his first master and knows it).

Name: Kaeya Alberich
Memory prompts: let's do some horror y'all

So like Eski, I'm thinking of running this in a more interactive manner! Rather than watching explicit memories play out, characters will be dropped into more metaphorical horror-aligned scenarios of Kaeya's mindscape, because I love playing horror shit and also so I don't have to retcon that much when canon inevitably destroys all my headcanon in the upcoming months. (I will also do specific explicit memories for anyone who requests it for CR!)

A few potential scenarios I'm envisioning characters can be dropped into:

  • (cw: body horror); your character appears in the ruins of a crumbling kingdom, physically deaged into a child of around ten years of age. above, the sky pulses crimson like the heartbeat of a dying beast, veins of black spreading across, pieces of it cracking off to reveal void behind. the shards of the falling sky hurl towards the ground, spreading tendrils of darkness wherever they land; should they touch anyone, that person immediately begins to warp and contort - tongue melding to the roofs of their mouth, eyes pressed closer and closer together until they melt into a singular organ, bones cracking and twisting into something altogether...inhuman.

  • (cw: burning, body horror); your character, a child still, appears on the edge of a land split between night and day. behind them, shadowed in twilight, is an enormous cage blazing with hellish flame. locked within the cage are dozens, hundreds, thousands of people - their flesh melting and bubbling from the searing heat, features dribbling into distorted forms like wax off a candle, mouths open to reveal toothless maws that scream and scream and scream. no matter how long they burn, they seem unable to die. upon closer inspection, though it's difficult to make out in their warped features, you recognize many of these people: your family, your kinsfolk, your neighbors, your teachers, all the people who surrounded you and guided you in your childhood.

in front of you, bathed in sunlight, is your dearest companion. a child themselves here as well, they beam at you amidst the greenery and flowers of an idyllic meadow, reaching towards you to pull you into the warm sunshine with them. there is no hesitation in their movements, no shadows on their face; they open their arms to you with the full trust and innocence of youth, wishing nothing more than for your happiness with them.

a voice whispers to you, carrying words of absolute truth: that within this dear friend's heart lies the only key that can unlock the cage behind you and free your people from their eternal torment. in your hands, you hold a knife.

  • an adult now, you arrive in a field just in time to save a child from being killed by a club-wielding monster. it's an unsightly creature, humanoid but still clearly inhuman, wearing a mask that covers all of its face save a single large eye. it grunts and shrieks incoherently, clearly incapable of higher thought beyond sheer aggression, though you recognize some sounds that could nearly be words in your mother tongue: 'kill', 'cold', 'hungry', 'empty'. it does not let off in its attacks, but any attempts to remove its mask causes it to wail like a child, hunching over and curling its claws around the mask to keep it on. clear liquid drips from the singular visible eye, matting its fur.

you think you recognize the voice. it sounds like the voice of your mother.

  • ...and others! please i just wanna play some horror let me fuck people up

    Memory Prompts:

BLANKET WARNING FOR UNREALITY and DANGANRONPA V3 SPOILERS

💔 !!cw: child abuse referenced!! Everything is distorted. You can't make out the faces that surround you, but you know they're there. There's shouting. There's two people, and they're yelling at each other. You step by, awkwardly, trying not to draw attention to yourself. They pay you no heed until your stomach rumbles. You stand there motionlessly as the room begins to jitter. There's a dirty, stained kitchen that is never cleaned. There's a pristine kitchen that looks polished and prim. They're both where you are. They're not where you are at all. Those people are people you love. People you hate. They're your parents. At least that's clear. Intermixed with the garbage that you can only imagine is your dad's face, you can make out a smile. He's smiling at you.

    It's a lie.

You learned from the best, after all.

🎲 You're young. The size of your hands means you're about 10-13, at the oldest. You have a bag on your back, and on that back rests the entirety of your world, your existence, your being. You walk into a library and sign up to get onto the computers. You get onto it, open up a chatroom, and see your friends. One message is sent to you privately.

    The plan is in motion.

Two images are sent. One is an image of a bank statement belonging to a corporation you know is corrupt. They're broke. The next is an image that makes you smile. DICE. You send a message in return.

    The world is mine.

🎹 Everyone is at the end of their rope. You're in a dangerous situation - the most dangerous situation of your life. You feel sick, you feel tired, you feel like you're going to collapse but you have to keep going. You can't give up hope. Giving up hope is letting Them win. Whoever is running this, whoever is--no. That's what everyone else is thinking. That's so easy to get hooked onto. That toxic positivity is something that They want. You swallow and your dry throat elicits a cough. No one pays attention, because they're getting ready to run that endurance course again. The Death Road of Despair, they call it.

At the front stands a young lady who still seems resolute. She's beaten down, but she refuses. You admire that, in a way. It's stupid. It's so stupid. But you admire it.

You can't let it keep going, though. If everyone keeps going, they'll grow to hate her. She doesn't deserve it. They'll turn on each other. It'll turn into 'who is the weakest link? Who deserves to stay here? Who can't keep going, isn't worth keeping, can we sacrifice the dead weight?' They're banking on that. Everyone has their limits. And no matter what, someone will end up hated.

Might as well be you. That's an idea. Kay-yay-day is a good enough hero. You smile. Every story needs a hero. Every story needs a villain. You'll unite them under a cause, whether they like it or not.

And then you speak, feigning a pained expression. And everyone listens.

🔍 Rantaro is dead. Kay-yay-day is dead. You not only saw the body of one, but then the execution of another. But things turned around near the end, and not only did you lose your heroine....you gained a new hero. You're standing in the cafeteria in the morning surrounded by students, anxiety making adrenaline pump through your veins. There's nothing happening, but you're still jittery. Still anxious. It shows, because you speak with such rehearsed performance. If you weren't thinking over everything you said, you'd die. You'd get killed, you'd die, you'd be dead, you have to outthink, outmaneuver, outlast until you find out the ringleader behind this.

And then you hear the hero arrive.

"Good morning." He says, and you notice, much like the others - the hat hiding his eyes is missing. He looks...confident. He looks capable. He looks like a hero. The words come out, less rehearsed.

"You finally got rid of that emo hat! Is this cuz Kaede died or whatever?"

Tenko chides you for being insensitive, but characteristically, Shuichi just shrinks away, trying to boil it down to nothing. He has a gentle heart, despite it all. But those are the sort of people who are worth the effort.

When people aren't looking, your smile turns a bit more genuine.

Despite it all, he makes you feel at ease.

🔪 You've been feuding with this girl from the start. Maki Harukawa soon has you cornered, dead to rights. You look up and barely meet her eyes. Those red, piercing eyes. She hates you. She has all the right in the world to, but it's still uncomfortable to be stared at with such pure, unadulterated loathing. She's interrogating you. She's found you out, she KNOWS what you are, you're a Remnant of Despair.

    Who is Junko Enoshima?

You're still sitting there on the ground, and you have a feeling that this is the end of your journey. You didn't stop the killing game. You didn't save everyone. This is where your lies have taken you: an abrupt, swift end at the hands of someone who hated you, someone who - despite it all - was probably someone misled, as far as this game went.

    You failed.

I've got the three memory bank prompts of (human) drivers' test, meeting with Undyne, and Sans's death... But I'm definitely open to other things, like:

Moments from Undertale - the puzzles along the road, his fight, some of the phone calls with Undyne from Papyrus's perspective, even some off-screen things mentioned like that costume party or time serving as the Royal Guardener come to mind.

Different fake human life memory fragments, or some of his altered memories of his early life underground - time in a lab, doing studies comparing himself and Sans's health situations? Time being surprised and impressed by displays of magic, or learning to use it himself?

And of course game threads are an option, I've got a thread tracker here that I think is up to date now.

    Name: Tartaglia
Memory Prompts: Jumping on the Eski/Octa train, I feel like it would be more fun if Tartaglia's memories were more interactive instead of just watching it movie style! So:
    ➤ liyue - harbour; (img references: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 )
( liyue harbour. nestled like a jewel in the mouth of the blue sea. the mountains behind the city look as if it is rushing down to meet the ocean. the weather is warm, too warm, and there is always the constant, itching discomfort in the back of your mind as you walk down the streets. it's a busy day; the markets are bursting with people, with voices, with kids running around underfoot and cartloads of shipment being driven through the cobbled streets as they are unloaded from the ships moored at the harbour.

this one can be like an exploration style in the POV of childe's fatui subordinate, liyue is so pretty in game and if it sounds fun for your characters to experience the city, let's go for it!! please find location references here if you'd like! for liyue there is actually a lot of material and other fun things, so please note i'm also happy to share: lantern rite as well which is also super pretty )

    ➤ inazuma - fireworks; (img references: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 )
( compared to the golden burnt umber of liyue, inazuma is shades of purple, electric and blazing, cut through with dark red of perpetual maple trees. it's a festival - stretching from one end of the city to the other, from the ocean to high up in the mountains where the sacred sakura tree blooms under the moonlight. and are those a few foxes you can see between the tall reeds, yawning and bored and oddly unaffected by humans so close to them? the fireworks blaze brightly in the sky, each accompanied by a deafening bang and excited shouts from the crowds out to enjoy the festival and the fireworks. there's lots of food and games too - think kitsune and oni-shaped masks, tricolour dango, delicious skewers roasting over charcoal, boba pearl tea dango milk ... as well as lots of games!

in this memory, you will be (unfortunately?) in the body of one certain rogue harbinger, ducking and weaving through the crowds and behind stalls in some weird hide and seek with tartaglia. this is just a fun way for me to make fun of childe for canonly never being able to track down scaramouche, so go wild! you can (maybe) easily give him the slip and go have fun in the festival! )

    ➤ snezhnaya - forest; (img references: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 )
( snow-covered forest. silent, with only crunching of boots on the frozen ground and the crack of odd branches. a sudden flapping of wings as some bird, unseen, takes flight. the branches are so dense overhead that you can barely see the sky, just overarching sense of space. there is no lighted lantern, no glimpse of anything familiar. you just keep walking, feeling the sky overhead pressing down heavier and heavier as the hours pass. are you lost? is that whistling of the wind, or is that some animal howl?

in this memory, you will be another runaway lost child to interact with tartaglia. he is a boy of about 13~14 years old. this memory is if you want to learn more about him before he became tartaglia. NOT recommended if you want to refer back on this memory with him later because he has disassociated himself with this version of him for some time now! )

all three can branch off into other memories from the specific nation (or we can skip to another nation, etc) if you'd like, so we can always talk and see what you feel like doing!

apart from these there's other memories related to: (fallout with his family and getting sold to the military, the tsaritsa, other harbingers, more fighting, use of delusion (man made elemental magic basically), awakening an ancient god to drown the whole city, some other "fun" things like that) so if you are wanting memories that are a little darker, hit me up and we can hash something out! thank you!

Memory Prompts: Right now I've got a handful that I've written out--do note that even though I've written these memories out as full scenes, this is because I'm offering them up for the memory bank and wanted to provide a full scene for players to make use of as they pleased! If we're threading together, I'm very happy to play these out as more of a CYOA/exploration type deal c: so without further ado...

❧ destruction of coriolis (cw: death, body horror)
You find yourself en route to a city with an unknown companion. Even though things seem normal, the world itself seems to be holding its breath until you arrive to the town and find it infested with Nulls, husks of what were once human beings.

Semi-CYOA: It's your decision whether you fight or flee, whether you try to save yourself or others, whether you see the end of the world... or lose your soul to the Nulls before the night goes dark.

❧ hello major tom (cw: optional body horror)
Have you ever wanted to experience space travel? Now you have. Comes in two flavors!

Flavor 1: Pilot. You're in command of a small two-person craft, maneuvering through space while an unfamiliar man (or familiar, if you've also been through the destruction of Coriolis!) sits in the passenger seat. It's easy enough to tell why he's not piloting, given that the left side of his face is mostly covered by a wide half-mask temple to jaw. Go long enough, and maybe you'll reach your destination...

Flavor 2: Passenger. Standing on the deck of a ship that seems like it would be better suited for the ocean than the skies, you watch as a long, jagged line of nothingness seems to break through the emptiness of space--and Nulls begin to fall to the ship's surface, captured by its artificial gravity and melting out of the shadows.

When your world has been destroyed, there's a certain sort of security you take from seeing the same people every so often, even if you come from drastically different places. You find yourself in a bedroom as someone knocks on the door and announces that breakfast is ready, and the five individuals from very different backgrounds go through the morning routine and sit down to eat together. You can be part of the family too, if you'd like, or you can stand back and watch like a creeper--there's room enough for everybody in this memory, however you'd like to partake.

This isn't your memory--that, you know for certain. But here you are, standing before a giant tree softly lit with the glow of magic, a ceremony taking place around you. To you? You're certainly a part of it, whether you want to be or not... This is Wave's memory of her and Dusk's investiture as the rulers of Coriolis's second sector, Vairenn. It was. Not fun.

    ❧ dusk 🔒 (cw: emotional/spousal abuse)
Locked to those Wave has CR with already, please; these have the potential to get Heavy.

This prompt is a bit more of a "choose your own adventure" type deal than the others, and Wave does not have to be part of these threads! Dusk is someone that has a lot of effect on Wave, but who she doesn't talk about at all outside of veiled references to the type of people she wants to leave behind. Be warned that these threads may nudge into CW territory; let me know if we need to avoid anything!

    [personal profile] arsenist 2023-02-06 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
hello!! I don't know if I am doing this right, and I might get some more ideas for two more memories later, but I am Doing This since it's already the 5th and I don't want to put it off for too long!

  • The Restraint (cw: attempted assault): You overhear some police officers talking about an assault, you see a boy grit his teeth, and it sends you through a loop of memory. If you've met Akira, you know he always talks about being in Tokyo before he ended up on this island with all of you; maybe he's brought up that it's not his hometown, but you know that the sleepy town you're suddenly seeing is not the bustling city that he speaks of with such fondness. It's late at night, he's walking to what you might presume is his home - and then there's the distinguishable conversation of a drunken man trying to force a woman into his car. Akira can't stand for such a thing, and he runs over to intervene.

Blink, and the drunken man is on the ground. Did Akira shove him down...? It doesn't look like he's moved into position for that, so you can make the assumption the man fell under his own power. Probably serves him right... Sounds like he's called the police, though, and that's not good.

It'll be okay, though. Akira didn't do anything wrong, and the woman that man was going to hurt is still here, so it's fine... It's fine if they come, even if... even if the man lies, which he will. The woman won't actually listen to what he's saying and lie that Akira did something, right? It doesn't matter how much power this man has, he was going to hurt her, so she'll defend the boy that stood up for her... right?

...Why aren't the police listening? They're grabbing Akira so tight, aren't they hurting him, where are they taking him?

He... did the right thing. Didn't he?

"I just... wanted to do the right thing."

  • The Rumors: It doesn't matter what part of Shujin High School you walk through - everyone is chatting about the new transfer student. You can't walk the halls without hearing Kurusu Akira's name, and none of what's being said is good.

"Are you in homeroom 2-D...? Bad luck, man."

"Have you heard what people are saying about the transfer student? Apparently he beat a man in his hometown half to death."

"I heard he's been selling drugs and alcohol under the table to other high school students. Doesn't he have any shame?"

"What?! He killed some guy in Kabukicho last week...?!"

"Make sure Kurusu-san isn't in front of you in line for bread on Fridays... He always gets yakisoba pan, but if his hand touches the wrapper of the bread you end up buying, you'll get cursed for sure."

"I wish he'd get lost... Nobody needs to see such a scary face when we have enough to deal with."

A boy with glasses walks past you, back hunched and shoulders in his pockets. He doesn't speak to anyone around him, even as the student collectively whisper about him in plain sight. Even as he opens up a door and sets off a new chorus of students remarking about how he doesn't belong and hoping he leaves soon, he doesn't stop on his way to his destination - the reception area of the school library.

He doesn't react to anyone cursing his name, but he offers a warm smile for the girl behind the counter, returning a book and pleasantly asking for another. She's the only student that smiles at him.

"I just want to know there's someone I can show everything to without hiding behind a mask."

((note: your character can interact with the students in this one! they don't have anything nice to say. no matter how much your character presses, they'll repeat things that are similar or identical to the above, and possibly even worse. it seems like the student working part-time in the library can also be interacted with... maybe she'll have something different to say? and if you try hard enough, maybe you can even interact with Akira himself...?))

  • The Rebellion (cw: blood, violent imagery): This one is different than the last time. You find yourself in a large, gaudily decorated room with a huge staircase. Are you in a mansion? Or perhaps a castle - there's a portrait hanging on the wall a fair distance ahead, a shirtless man with a careless smirk and a crown resting atop his head.

Be careful in this memory, though - it seems the guards parading around in armor will transform into monsters and attack you if they catch wind of you walking around. You can fight them if you wish... just be aware that some of them and their magic can pack a punch.

Though there are the few that you may or may not run into, there aren't a huge number of guards; it seems there's a bit of a commotion coming from one of the hallways. The Shadow guards will get more numerous as you proceed to what look like a dungeon, but it becomes a lot easier to clearly hear what those voices are saying.

Nobody over here will be paying attention to you, it seems. There's quite the scene happening over here, after all, and it seems like you're about to find out a lot more about Akira than he probably ever wanted you to know.

...And about his powers too, of course.

"I just wanted an outlet for the anger sitting on my chest, the exhausted weight of being used by adults who don't give a damn."

((note: this one is also interactive! no fun puzzles sadly because this happens early in the Palace - although good riddance tbh, I can't stand this one Kamoshida is gross, man - but you do get to beat up Shadows in here if your character has fighting capabilities! yay! also Kamoshida is kind of... not wearing much, and I didn't link the really raunchy Shadows but some of them aren't either so that + Akira's very visceral awakening = maybe don't bring your bitties in here. but that's just a heads up from me! I'm not your mom! live your best life!))

    Name: Still Sunrise

Memory Prompts: The struggle of playing an OC is that I have to write up everything from scratch, so I'm throwing out some memory ideas and ones I want to share or think would be interesting, and doing full write-ups for whichever I decide to put in the communal bank and what people want to play with.

    • Past life memories. Sunrise has some memories from the girl who she was revived from! Her name was Tabira, and she was vastly different from Sunrise because she actually had a real, full life and properly grew up as a person should. Characters will experience these memories the way Sunrise remembers them: a weird, dissociative filter of being in the driver's seat yet not actually "experiencing" or "feeling" whatever is happening to them. They just "know" things. Some I'm thinking of are:

      - Isara, Tabira's younger sister, is testing out a new sword that Tabira has forged. Notably, Isara is not actually as interested in forging swords as she is in actually wielding one and seems to want to properly practice swordsmanship, which is kind of a problem when they're smiths by trade first and foremost. You can also learn they come from a caste-based society.
      - Tabira with another girl around her age, apparently meeting in secret. Anjali has brought imported makeup with her and wants to try them out on Tabira, who relents after she flustered resistance because it'd make her happy. Anjali is pleased with the results and kisses Tabira on the corner of her mouth afterwards.
      - (cw: kidnapping) Tabira and Anjali have made plans to run away from the city and meet up...except Anjali's family has caught them in the act. They both try to run anyway but end up captured. Tabira gets dragged away to somewhere else. It is not hard to figure out this does not end well for her.

    • Sunrise's resurrection. "Why is Sunrise like this?" It's because Isara and Isara's best friend tried to revive Tabira and got her instead. What starts out as relief and joy that whatever ritual they did worked soon gives way to horror and crushing despair when they realise it did not work as intended. Two teenagers have Committed Serious Crimes for nothing and they know it! And Sunrise gets to watch it all happen while she has barely any idea what's going on and in grappling with suddenly existing.

    • Assorted opera troupe memories. Sunrise works backstage for a travelling troupe, and she's mentioned some of the other members to people in Austice. I'll probably do memories involving specific individual members, related to things about Sunrise. Right now I have:
      - How Sunrise got her current name ("Mr. Radiant Voice")
      - Why Sunrise wears gloves all the time ("Mr. Day")
      - Sunrise's history of ghostbusting and her dealing with someone else who is ???undead??? ("Ms. Velvet")
      - How Sunrise joined the troupe ("Ms. Echo"). To be safe, cw: references to implied abuse because Echo thought that was going on with Sunrise. This one is related to one of her missing memories and her altered memory, so it's possible that this can lead to Sunrise realising something is amiss with her memories.

That resurrection prompt is of interest to me! Just enough parallel to what Papyrus thinks his situation is, for the horror and despair of Isara and her friend to sting all the harder.

    Name: Tsukasa Suou
    Memory Prompts:

People are welcome to come across one or all of his memories! All are open. Most are short one-shots if you follow the links. However, Butterfly is the full story, so I don't expect most, except the canon familiar, to react to that one.

Memory 1: I'll Always Protect You
Tsukasa is about 7 years old, and he gets to play with his cousin, whom he rarely sees. While sneaking out to play, though, a stray dog shows up. And it's up to HIM to protect Kohaku or else die trying. His weapon of choice? A stick.

When you're 7, you work with what you've got.

Memory 2: Requiem- A Childhood Fight

About the age one would be in middle school, Tsukasa is the perfect example of how a son ought to behave. All of the adults say so. But when his frenemy stops coming to lessons and their classes to instead fawn over idols, he becomes more and more frustrated and starts parroting the awful things the adults tend to say. Surely he'll realize how inferior and silly his obsession is and return back to the normal Tori he knows. But instead none of his harsh words land, and he's the one left shaken?

    Memory 3: Requiem- A Hospitalization
CW: Dealing with concepts of a terminal illness

Tsukasa's father is in the hospital in critical condition, fighting an incurable disease that will one day kill him. He does his best to handle the news that his father is in bad shape, but he can't seem to contact any of his unit members or friends at school to explain his absence. He's too terrified that if he voices the situation aloud, his father really will pass away.

    Memory 4: Sudden Death: Prologue
CW: Dealing with concepts of death

The story is a flashback. It takes place ten years prior to the current story, leaving Tsukasa around the age of 7. He is at his main estate, and it is during his grandfather's funeral. For the first time, he is confronted with the concept of death and finds it both terrifying and confusing all in one.

Unable to understand how such a powerful man as his grandfather could die, he is taken by surprise when a child his own age pops up, and he meets his cousin 'Kohaku' for the very first time.

    Memory 5: Butterfly
    Full story

Tsukasa and Makoto, a member of Trickstar, are tired of the way Izumi treats them both. Izumi dotes on Makoto while being harsh and strict with Tsukasa. They hatch a scheme, thinking they can convince Izumi that they switched bodies after sleeping on a cursed pillow in order to complain to him about their differences in treatment.

Things go wrong when the cursed pillow gets thrown out accidentally and they end up having to chase down a garbage truck.

Somehow, they think they successfully tricked him despite everything......

In the end, they finally switch back, with Izumi understanding their upset and trying to do better... even if that never results in a lack of bullying.

    Memory 6: Fostering Friendship

Tsukasa heads to Ensemble Square to meet up with Narukami. However, it seems they are running late due to a photo shoot. There, he comes across Harukawa and struggles with the challenges of friendship. He panics and hides from his friend, unsure how to interact normally with someone his own age.

. . . At least until Sora calls him out.
