I'm excited to jump in, and I've been working on getting caught up on reading the compiled information, so I'll have a toplevel up for Alice to arrive properly and get involved in the event log soon, and I'll be throwing him around, too. My name is Char and I come bearing one Artemy Burakh from the smash hit game that no one has played (mostly), Pathologic 2. In brief, Artemy is a man from a small Russian steppe Town who has returned from his years of schooling and a brief stint in the War only to find that he's about to go through 12 days of pure hell trying to stop a violent and sentient plague called the Sand Pest. Along the way, he's been tasked with taking care of a bunch of unruly kiddos so he's also kind of a dad. Anyways. Artemy is a surgeon with the ability to read Lines, aka the interconnectedness of the systems of the body in three layers. It's complicated. Don't worry about it. Basically, if you need a heal, he'll do his best to help you!

As for my character, I am bringing in Lucy M Montgomery from Bungo Stray Dogs! Yes, she is named after the author of Anne of Green Gables. And despite her power being called 'Anne of the Abyssal Red,' she is a reference.
Lucy is the type of person who romanticizes her suffering as a coping mechanism. She's an orphan, living a life marked by constant abandonment. She has the abandonment issues to match it, even! Her special ability is to take people to a land of her imagination! 'Anne's Room' is another dimension, where Lucy's imaginary friend Anne reigns supreme. She might even take you there; Either because she trusts you with her delicate daydreams, or because she wants Anne to flatten you into a pancake.
Also she's actually a really nice girl, I swear. She just has trust issues.

Nov. 29th, 2022 08:25 pmsilentscoutHello! My name is Maple, and I'm going to be bringing in Lalli Hotakainen from the webcomic Stand Still Stay Silent. I was happy to see that a bunch of people in the discord already know the canon, but for those who don't: Stand Still Stay Silent (or SSSS for short) follows a group of people going out into the Silent World to look for knowledge lost when The Rash swept through the world 90 years ago and killed most of the people (and mammals in general) alive then. The catch? That same virus that killed most of the people left some behind some zombies, and they're juuuuust common enough to be a travel hazard.
Lalli himself is a mage and has some cool magic powers because of that! But his primary job is making the undead into actual-dead and guiding their souls to the afterlife. Because of how souls work in his canon, Lalli is distinctly cat-themed (because he has a cat soul!) and his behaviors and mannerisms can seem catlike. He's aloof and judgemental and likes to climb on top of stuff and under stuff and sleep in weird places, and it is extremely difficult to befriend him. But if you manage it, he'll trail after you wherever you go. Feeding him is a great way to buy his loyalty too, but only if it's food he likes!
Also! Stand Still Stay Silent has a lot of heavy themes, which I have listed in this opt-out post here. Not everything on the list absolutely will come up during the game, but these are all things Lalli has experienced and that might come up. So if anything on that list is triggering to you, please leave a comment there so I know not to include that content in our threads. (You can also opt out of playing with Lalli entirely if you want to.)

Nov. 29th, 2022 07:21 pmgenius_idiotOh hey i never did this! HELLO. I'm Lan and a few days ago, one Mr. Kaiji Itou was dropped off in town. He's from the anime Ultimate Survivor Kaiji and he's the best worst guy you're ever going to meet. He's from the end of season 1 but before season 2, and he's missing his memories of how exactly he got to that point. He's got a bunch of awful scars he can't explain, a uniform he doesn't recognize, and honestly he's freaking out just a little.
Kaiji is a big lazy crybaby who's good at feeling sorry for himself. But he's also someone who's very good at persevering through the worst, always holding on to hope and helping rally those around him. He manages to somehow how have a ton of leadership, cleverness and charisma when he's not busy risking his neck in a horrible gamble with yakuza, starting fistfights or being dumb as a post. Thankfully this game should keep a fire lit under his butt enough to keep him from just laying on the floor weeping. Maybe. We'll see!
I'll probably get a log going for him later this week, but for now feel free to jump in on his intro thread at the meeting, which was helpfully in session when he arrived.

He is an extremely shady weirdo who is the head of the Matoba exorcist clan. The Matoba pass a curse down which causes a malicious youkai to regularly chase after his right eye, a fact which has definitely not completely warped his worldview and which surely won't follow him here..................... maybe.
He loathes ayakashi (which mostly refers to youkai but is basically anything magically-not-human), but he loves cats and sweets. He can be pretty nasty to non-humans, but the loss of some key memories is going to make him slightly less salty and bitter right off the bat. Slightly.

EDIT: I ALMOST FORGOT BUT if your character is a ghost/spirit/youkai/magic person feel free to let me know if Matoba can sense anything off them and how they feel! Ironically his good sight makes it harder to tell by sight alone if something isn't human because everything looks solid to him, but he can tell if someone is more than a normal person if their aura is "off".

November's Standing Mysteries

I'm Ariel, one of the many newbies just applied last night on a whim, and I'm introducing my gardening obsessed vampire OC named Augustine Rosethrawn. Short introduction, Augustine comes from a set of fictional works I'm currently writing called The Vampire's Garden.
The story takes place in the fictional city of Hawthorne (think of it like a combination between Prague and Budapest in terms of architecture and general atmospehere), an old metropolis known for its supernatural but bloody history. Augustine hails from the once revered house of Rosethrawn, one of the three vampire clans who used to rule and protect Hawthorne. The city itself has fallen into disarray since the death of the three clans, leaving the reins to the mortals who live there. Being that he’s the last of his house, Augustine is eventually forced to aid the citizens of Hawthorne when another rival clan of bloodsuckers threatens to take the city by force. It’s an ongoing saga I’m working on behind the scenes but that’s the gist of it!
As mentioned, Augustine loves gardening. It’s one of his only passions in life outside of summoning creepy demonic entities from beyond the Veil. Lovely, no?
He's a dapper old gentleman, so please be kind. Augustine truly doesn’t know what to do with most of you weird little mortals. He's going to TRY to take everything in stride but I'm certain he'll be yelling by the end of the week.

Aoi is coming from a pretty bad point in canon, but also I was mean and just ripped her away from what was about to be her best point in canon so far. Whoopsies!
Aoi is a popular academic girl who's part of her school's gardening club. She's especially considered to be the most beautiful and/or cute girl in her school... she's not too happy about that to be honest but it's whatever. She's also dealing with the ramifications of being a human sacrifice. As one does.

I'm doing a YouTube playlist of theme songs of characters in the game, or if they don't have one, songs the mun associates with them.
I'll make a tidy little list version of it too soon, since who knows when YouTube will decide to snap certain vids out of existence...
For now, I'm asking 5 songs max per character. Will this make a really big playlist if everyone wants that many? Sure, yeah! All the funner to shuffle with!
